Hello and thank you for joining me this first week on the Horizontal Fault.
I have received some really encouraging comments from you.
It is so gratifying to know that some of my posts are resonating with you, with your thoughts about cities generally, or perhaps with your life here in LA.
If you are enjoying my posts please do share them, or become a subscriber, the buttons follow below.
I will continue posting here about two times a week, on Mondays and Fridays, breaking my longer essays into smaller, serialized chunks with the hope that you’ll be able to dedicate a few minutes a week to the Horizontal Fault.
Next week I will be posting two obituaries that I wrote in 2004 and 2016, respectively, for two of my favorite architects: LA’s own Pierre Koenig and Melbournian Peter Corrigan.
While their work, as you can see here, couldn’t be more aesthetically and materially different, they did share a common interest in addressing often ordinary, suburban contexts in extraordinarily inventive yet humane ways.
The week following I will be posting some of my writing about art and its relationship to architecture and urbanism.
In the meantime have a wonderful weekend and thank you again for your readership.
